Hitting the Healing Trails with Navajo Humor

In the land where the sun kisses the earth, And the winds whisper ancient tales,

In the land where the sun kisses the earth, And the winds whisper ancient tales,

The Navajo spirit rides with Tony Lama,On trails where life's journey prevails.

Twists and turns like a river's course,Guided by the stars and the moon's soft glow, Nature calls with a gentle force, In its embrace, we find what we need to know.

Laughter echoes in the canyon's heart, Songs rise with the morning dew, Prayers dance like shadows at dusk, In nature's arms, we are renewed.

A horse's gallop, a sheep's gentle graze, A pubby's playful eyes that gleam, Each a healer in their own ways, In their presence, we find our dream.

But why do we call them "pubby," you ask? It's because we Navajo have a task! Dogs inside our homes? That's quite a feat, Especially when sheep camp's their retreat.

And what about those fancy dogs, corgis and shepherds? The ones that can't be left with the sheeps? Our kids bring them with pride and glee, But at sheep camp, they'd rather be free!

The more sheep you have, they say, The more eligible bachelor you are today! And for the women, it's quite a test, To cook fry bread and stew, they must be the best.

They need to know horse songs, sheep songs too, And build a hogan, it's what they do. But humor, oh, it's in our soul, Celebrating a baby's first laugh is our goal.

The one who makes the baby laugh first, Throws a party, quenching our humor thirst. So step outside, let your spirit soar,In nature's realm, there's humor galore!

Reflection:

Life's journey is filled with unexpected twists and turns, and a good dose of Navajo humor! Embrace the laughter and joy that comes from our cultural traditions, whether it's through the playful antics of a "pubby" or the celebration of a baby's first laugh. Step outside, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the earth—and maybe share a laugh with family and friends along the way. Embrace the trails of life, where healing and humor go hand in hand.
